After turning the knob on the oven so that it was off, Robin smiled as she was greeted with the scent of her delicious smelling lasagna. She had once told Patrick that she didn't cook often, but when she did she found it to be very comforting. Nothing had changed about that statement, except for maybe the fact that she did it far more often. She was a mother and a wife now, after all. As if on cue, she heard her beautiful little daughter wake up, and begin to make her usual after nap noises. Robin set the dinner on the counter to cool, taking off her oven mits and setting them next to it. She then exited the kitchen, and made for the playpen. "Hi Emma," Robin could hear Emma begin to calm down from the sound of her voice as she spoke in a way that was completely reserved for that little girl. They had certainly been a long way since when Robin had been suffering from her postpartum depression. She couldn't even touch Emma, let alone love her the way she should have.
Robin couldn't stand that she had missed out on so much of her daughters life because of her disease, or that she had treated her husband and the people she loved the way she did. She was, however, now more grateful than ever every time she remembered what she had now. She made a vow to never take for granted her amazing family again. Robin reached into the playpen and picked up her cooing bundle of joy, and rocked her softly in her arms. "Did you have a good sleep, baby girl?" She asked, to which she received a happily squealing answer. Robin laughed at this, and carried her daughter to the couch where she sat down with her. "Guess who's going to be home soon, Emma? Yep, that's right. Your daddy. He's busy being brilliant in his surgery right now. We're both very lucky to have him in our lives, you know?" Robin smiled down at her daughter as she spoke, watching her happily squirm about, as if she knew exactly what Robin was saying.
"Your daddy considers himself to be very lucky to have you too, you know? I think you are what he always wanted, but he never could quite bring himself to admit it. Of course, I always wanted you, but never thought it would happen. You see, mommy has HIV and she never wanted to possibly infect a child with what she has. I would never want anything bad to happen to you though, Emma." Emma reached upwards, and began playing with the tips of Robin's hair as she continued to speak. "Luckily, things changed. It became possible for me to have a child as years passed. Anyways, I do have a point to this, little girl. Emma, you are definitely your Mommy & Daddy's miracle, and we will never stop reminding you of that. You'll just have to keep in mind that he loves you when he's scaring all your future boyfriends away" Robin laughed, and then leaned down to kiss her daughters forehead.
