History
Derek Frye during his time as the Lieutenant of the PVPD dedicated his life of serving everyone with hard work and that justice would be served. In 1990 he and Detective Trevor Dillion teamed up on a case that involed the kidnapping of Dixie Cooney. Billy opened fire and Derek sacarficed his life to save Tad and was nearly killed but survived. Derek was promoted from officer to detective. He and Mimi Reed dated and then married, going aganist the rules of the PVPD. They have a daughter together named Danielle. Derek and Mimi divorced a year later when Mimi decided not to return to work.
Derek has continued his work at the Pine Valley Police Department, popping up when the residents of Pine Valley need to be put back in line. Derek appointed himself the acting Chief Of Police when Anna Devane stepped down and began to slove the murder of Micheal Cambias. Even if it meant destroying his friendship with Jackson Montgomery, the DA who tried to protect Erica Kane and Kendall Hart Slater, he would do it. In 2008, he left the position with Jesse Hubbard taking over the post, who has failed so bad.In 2010, Jesse stepped down as COP and Derek returned to PV taking over the job. Danielle lives in New York with her mom, completing college.

It was Derek Frye's first day returning to Pine Valley and the police department after acccepting the job offer as the new Cheif Of Police, since Jesse Hubbard stepped down a couple of days ago. He immediately left Hawaii letting Danielle live with her mom in New York so that there can be space between the two former lovers. Derek would visit Danielle in the near future once he's free. As he entered into the PV police department, he started to wonder if taking the job was the right thing to do. He knew the pros and cons of the job itself, him being a Lieutenant, detective, acting cheif of police then chief of police. But knowing that everything wasn't going to be easy, it comes with the territory. He saw police officers doing their own work but stopped and started clapping and cheering knowing that the Cheif Of Police they knew from a long ago was back and things would be normal, unlike others. Derek waved and went inside his office to set his things on the desk. He then went outside and cleared his throat.
"Excuse me, let me have your attention please?" . All the officers and detectives quiet down so their new boss can speak. "For those of you that dont know me, my name is Derek Frye and im your Cheif Of Police" . The officers and police clapped and cheered again but quietted down when Derek was about to speak again. "It's been a long time since 2008 when I stepped down. I had to leave due to personal issues that surrounded my daughter and you all know famy comes first. A few weeks ago, Mayor Iris Blanco called me and said that Jesse Hubbard, the former comissioner stepped down and asked if it was okay for myself to take the spot as your new Chief Of Police and I said yes. The reason why I did that is because I missed the smell of fresh donuts, coffee, and taking prisioners to the cells". Derek, the police officers and detectives all laughed and then a few seconds it was silent that Derek could speak again. "But anyway, being the one who has the most experience in the PVPD, I couldn't give back this oppurtunity".
Derek paused and then continued. "And now that im the new Chief Of Police, it's mu duty and responsibility to make sure that the people, the ciitzens of Pine Valley are safe and clear from thugs, robbers, villians , and people who don't want this town to be safe. Well I say to them.........BRING IT ON!!!!". Derek got a thunderous applause from detectives and police officers after what he said. This was to get everyone in the police department fired up and ready to go. More like motivation and encouragement for the PVPD to not give up. The applause died down as Derek spole once again. "Let's not loose our focus on the tasks ahead. It wont be easy, and there will be bumps in the road but one thing is for certain if we keep doing our thing by clearing the streets of bad people who dont follow the rules of the law book in Pine Valley then we have nothing to worry about. If anyone has a problem with that, lets step into my office so we can talk about what needs to be done for improvement. Is that clear!?". "YES SIR!!!!" . "Good, now let's get to work!" .
With that said the police officers and detectives got back to work beginning the fight crime and make the town safe. Suddenly someone walked to Derek. "It's been a long time hasn't been Derek Frye" . Derek turned around and it was non other Jackson Montgomery. "Well look who it is Jackson Jack Jackson!" . The laughes and gave each other a big hug."When were you coming by Jackson? You just came here unannounced" . "Well I just couldn't help but hear the speech you gave. Who are you all the sudden, President Obama?" . The laughed again. "Nah, I just wanted to make things clear of who runs this department, I mean no offense to Jesse Hubbard but it's time we got back to basics and focused on the main problems but Jackson I think I should apologize to you" . Jackson was puzzled and confused. "For what Derek?" ."The Michael Cambias murder. It's almost destroyed our friendship because you were protecting Erica and Kendall and I took it kind of personal" . Jack nodded his head and understanded. "You don't have to apologize. Let's put the past behind. We'll always be friends man" . The two shook hands and went inside the officer to have some donuts and coffee.
